Surface performance in demanding equine environments
As one of Western Australia’s premier racing venues, Belmont Park Racecourse requires surface solutions capable of performing in demanding equine environments exposed to constant daily use, changing weather conditions and high volumes of horse and pedestrian traffic.
For this project, REGUPOL equine surfaces were installed across a number of key operational areas including day stalls, wash bays and parade ring environments. Each of these areas presents different functional requirements, from wet-area traction and drainage through to resilient underfoot performance for horses moving through high-profile circulation spaces.
In the wash bay areas, the surface solution needed to support reliable grip and practical maintenance in regularly wet conditions. Within the day stall environments, durability and comfort under repeated hoof impact were important considerations, while the parade ring areas required a surface capable of supporting safe and confident movement for both horses and handlers.
The project highlights how REGUPOL equine surfaces can be adapted across multiple areas within major racing and training facilities, delivering practical performance benefits while maintaining a consistent and durable surface system throughout the venue.

Day Stalls
Durable rubber surfacing in day stall areas helps support comfort, traction and easier maintenance in high-use equine environments.

Wash Bays
REGUPOL equine surfaces help provide reliable grip and practical drainage performance in wet wash bay applications.

Parade Ring
In parade ring environments, resilient rubber surfacing can assist with safer footing and improved comfort for horses and handlers alike.
Why REGUPOL suited the project
REGUPOL equine surfaces are designed to support the practical demands of commercial horse environments where durability, traction and ease of maintenance are essential. At Belmont Park Racecourse, the surface solution needed to perform reliably under regular hoof traffic while helping maintain safe and functional conditions for horses and handlers.
Reliable traction in wet and high-use areas
Equine environments are regularly exposed to water, dirt and changing weather conditions. REGUPOL rubber surfacing helps provide dependable grip underfoot, supporting safer movement through areas such as walkways, wash bays and stable surrounds.
Resilient under repeated hoof impact
Racecourses and training facilities experience constant loading from horses, service equipment and foot traffic. REGUPOL equine surfaces are designed to absorb impact while maintaining durability and surface integrity over time.
Practical maintenance benefits
Low-maintenance surface solutions can assist with ongoing operational efficiency in busy equine environments. REGUPOL surfaces are designed to be robust, easy to clean and suitable for demanding commercial applications.
Comfort for horses and handlers
Resilient rubber surfacing can also contribute to improved underfoot comfort compared with harder traditional surfaces, helping create more practical and user-friendly equine environments.
